Garrison Keillor channels 1543
Garrison Keillor, in the first ten minutes of today’s Prairie Home Companion, talked about Yom Kippur and said that while the Jews on his staff did not owe him atonement for any sins, Jews have to apologize to the Palestinian Arabs.
The audience laughed.
Subject to verification.
This week was the High Holy Day of Yom Kippur on Wednesday, and I should have said last week to all the Jews in my life that you have nothing to atone for to me, you know, I mean you’ve been wonderful people, and – and so none of you has any sins that you need to worry about as far as I’m concerned.
Rich, Gary, all you guys there – Eli and Ira at home, and Larry – and Mitch, and Suzy, and all of my friends. Nothing – nothing to atone for whatsoever. And I really feel bad that I didn’t say anything about it last week. I real feel bad, you know, I should have said something.
You’ve got stuff to make up to the Palestinians for. Your people have produced some really dreadful movies – some good movies, but you know, some real stinkers as well.
Garrison Keillor should move to Ashkelon and suffer rocket attacks. Apologize to the Arabs, Mr. Keillor?
Go kiss my Jewish ass.
I heard that too – I was shocked.
I heard this as well. I was astonished that he would say that Jews as an ethnic group should all apologize to Arab Palestinians. I think that stroke did some damage.
Those remarks sent me into a paroxysm of rage. Then I did some work on Google and came to find out that being an anti-Semitic slug is not a new role for this jerk.
Thank you, whoever you are, I thought I was the only person who was offended by the comment that American Jews need atone to the Palestinians. This man hates Jews, yeah, I know, some of his best friends…
I just about drove off the road while he was identifying each of his Jewish friends and telling them that they had nothing to atone for. That just demonstrated his total lack of understanding of the entire holiday. And then the thing about atoning to the Palestinians. Garrison, just what would those things be? Any atonement required of the Palestinians? Even granted that there is blood on all poarticipants hands, I think the earlier comment about getting Garrison to Ashkelon is a great idea and would probably be an effective lesson for him. I would just lock him out of the bomb shelters. Let’s get this crap on the wires, he has had a free ride for too long.
That’s moral equivalence, buddy, blood on the hands of both sides. Israel fights for her existence and responds to attacks on her territory; Palestinians kill their Olympians, and other civilians.
Maybe this jerk will have another stroke soon. We can hope.
