Perpetrating a fraud against the Jews by advertising a march by jihadist sympathizers is not a legitimate use use of the Minneapolis E-Democracy list.

I remember a march and rally last March in Loring Park. Representative Keith Ellison (DFL-CD5) spoke about our priorities: instead of the war, we should fund health care, et. al., and that we need peace for various constituent groups. No sweat there.

After his appearance, however, a female “Palestinian” gave a speech trying to connect the Iraq War to Israel. According to the speaker, the trouble in the Middle East is due to Israel. She leveled the usual charges of apartheid; that a poll showed people believe that Israel is the problem by a wide margin; Israel has violated United Nations resolutions; there is dissent in the IDF; that Jews such as Norman Finklestein and Noam Chomsky (to the applause of the crowd) are against Israel; there is the question of a Palestinian Arab right of return (but no mention of a concurrent right of return for the 850,000 Jews expelled from Arab countries); and decried the security wall (which has drastically reduced suicide bombings of Israelis by Arab terrorists).

I noticed there were Palestinian Arab flags, a Free Palestine banner, a “Israel out of Palestine” sign, and that Farheen Hakeem was present. She is a member of the Anti-War Committee and is the perennial Green Party candidate for whatever political office she can apply for.

The Socialists were there, Obama supporters marched, clearly identified. Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer was in the march. There were two 911truth signs, and one “Israel is a terrorist state”. The turnout was probably a few hundred for the march. I think a good number were there to hear Rep. Ellison. I didn’t stick around for long after the mujaheed-in-waiting spoke. The rally concluded at about 3:45.

Jews – my co-religionists in the 5th CD – who voted for Keith Ellison should know that he appeared on the same stage before an Israel-bashing “Palestinian”. The march and was to be about the Iraq War, but turned out to be just another excuse to bash the Jews.

Zionism is the national movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel, Whether it is political Zionism or religious Zionism, the belief is central to Judaism and to Jews.

The following assertions are false:

1. “expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians”. “Palestinians” were called “Arabs” in 1948, and Jews were just as much “Palestinians” as any other ethnic group that lived in the area. Arabs left the area, either at the behest of their religious leaders, or because of the outbreak of war by Arab armies against Israel.

2. “and other massacres of Palestinians, most recently in Gaza”. There have been no “massacres” of civilians in Gaza. There have been, however, unending rocket attacks against Israel and the Jews by Hamas in Gaza. When jihadists commence military actions from civilian areas, the world should not be surprised when civilians are killed. The amount of attacks, purposeful murder of civilians, wars, atrocities, bus bombings, dissemination of crude anti-Semitic propaganda and blood libels in the Arab media and by their sympathizers over the past 60 years has had the effect of turning the incident at Deir Yassin into an exception in history of the Middle East. A dubious achievement by the Arab jihadists and their sympathizers, and a shameful one at that.

The Anti War Committee believes that “Israel as an illegitimate apartheid state, and we stand in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for justice and self-determination”. It requires no stretch of the imagination the AWC is calling for the destruction of Israel and murder of the Jews. These are the people that will be marching in the streets of Minneapolis.

The progeny of Grand Mufti Haj Muhammed Amin al-Husseini will again defame Minneapolis. Starting at Lake and Lagoon, they will slither up Hennepin Avenue, with their Palestinian jihadist flags and kuffiyehs, bleating about how horrible the Jews are for defending their country. The march will end up at Loring Park, where the anti-Semitic excrement will once again spew their filth. You just may see the “End All Occupations Now” banner at the front of the march, with the map of Israel designated as “Palestine”. The Jews? Inked out of existence. No mention of Jordan, the other part of the British mandate, populated with millions of “Palestinian” Arabs. The propagandists of the Anti War Committee and Palestine Solidarity Committee do not mention this fact.

G-d shall eventually cause the rains to fall and the Park will be cleansed. The trees and flowers will bloom, the grass will grow, and the birds will sing.

Update:

This is an old subject between us. Meeting announcements waive the
local-specificity rule because they are events in town. But I’m not allowing
the subject of those events – and this one is geopolitical, Israel-Arab
relations – to take over a locally oriented list.

This rule is widely abided, and it applies to you, too. As I said, if you
feel another member has violated the principle, let me know.

Sincerely,
David

My response:

I think you are being disingenuous – again. This is prior restraint – again. If only humor to you, I will edit my post to a more “acceptable” form.

Then you’ll post it…right?

One Response to “Re: the “Peace Calendar””

  1. I’ve been reading your blog for quite awhile, I never commented before.

I’m a Jewish socialist from Minneapolis, not associated with the Antiwar Committee. I have disagreements with them on Palestine and other issues. I associate with them in coalitions. In general they are not fond of my politics or me.

I don’t think they are anti-Semitic. Are you expecting the march to turn into a riot, and burn the synagogue on Hennepin? Pogrom? Do you think you will be beaten up, if you wear a yarmulke?

I think you have a problem with ultra-Semitism, meaning Palestinians don’t exist. The UN would be almost empty, if nations that got their identity after statehood, were eliminated. How about Congo? Guatemala? It is a colonialist type statement, that the Palestinians are not human, or even exist. That is not the official position of even Israel or Bush.

My blog is one of the few lefty blogs, with rightist commenters. My rightist friend Sonia-Belle, is one of the few rightists with regular lefty commenters. Your welcome to comment at my blog. I’ve been linked to yours awhile. I like reading it for lefty gossip.
